Trinket Thursday!

Well I can't believe its already Thursday. I love trinkets, I love being able to take any household item and make it something interesting. For instance, I have SO much jewelry, and I needed a new way to display it all. I wanted it to feel like an extension of design. Here is a unique and fun way to display your favorite jewelry. Let me know what you think.

I wanted to see what I could reuse in my house. I had these serving trays that were used at our wedding that had been sitting in our basement in a box for the last 3 years. Now it adds interest and is a way to hold the trinkets.
Using bowls to hold your jewelry is fun and an easy way to display them. I really disliked all those racks with all the holes in them to hold all your jewelry. {These bowls I got at Marshals for $2 a piece} I love a great deal.
I then displayed some of my grandmothers things, such as an old glass jar, with all of her old pearls. It creates sentimental value and adds a special touch to my trinkets!!
Adding a mirror is a great touch, making sure you are looking good before you head out the door.
This was a simple idea, that creates not only a great way to display your favorite jewelry but it is a creative touch to your dresser and your room.

Wise words for Wednesday!

There comes a time in everyone's life where you have to take a chance. This can be falling in love, buying a new car, taking a new job, learning to swim, diving out of an airplane or maybe even opening up your own business. I think its important to take a chance every once in a while in life.

Glamour

It was time for a change when it came to my nails. I am really into doing fun things with my nails to draw interest (even though I don't have the cutest hands) I think when it comes to being a woman we should enhance ourselves any chance we get, so why not enhance our fingers?? Well just like in my earlier post on nails, I did something similar. Hope you like it!!

What you will need: {essie turquoise polish, clear nail polish of your choice, glitter, fine tip paint brush, and a manicure
clean-up pen}
Step 1: clean up old nail polish {if you have some on} then start with one coat of the essie polish.
Step 2: go back over your nails with a second coat, to get an even and clean look.
Step 3: use the manicure clean-up pen to touch up any areas you might have smudged.
Then pour some of the glitter out then get your paint brush and clear nail polish ready.
Step 4: put some clear nail polish on the tip of one nail {of your choice} then using the brush put some glitter on that particular nail.
Step 5: I then go back over the nail with the clear nail polish to make sure none of the glitter I just applied can fall off as I go on with my day.
Step 6: put clear nail polish on all of your nails for a healthy shine.
The end result....

Feminine or Masculine?

The master bedroom in any home should feel like a sanctuary, you want it to fit both your styles especially if there is a male in the house. You don't want the bedroom too feel to feminine or too masculine, it's important that both of you are happy. You also want it to be inviting and a place you want to show your guests. Here are some snapshots of our bedroom and some ways to make it fit both your styles.
Black can easily be a neutral in any space, you just have to know how to use it. In this case I used black in our furniture pieces and a through a few accents.

Adding a pop of color can bring in the feminine side, such as this fuchsia pillow with the added touch of polka-dots.
Keeping the walls a neutral is a good choice, especially if you are planning on selling.

Hope you've Enjoyed!!!

French Affair

Who doesn't love nail polish? Its something fun and easy to do and when you can have fun with your nail polish it makes it even more exciting to want to paint them. I found this pretty pastel pink nail polish {Essie- French Affair} which is the perfect pink for a summer feeling, then adding a splash of {Milani-Jewel} to just one nail creates a flash of interest to your nails and fingers.

Flea Markets

There is nothing better then spending an afternoon with your best friend and adorable baby, while shopping at local flea markets!! Flea markets are a great way to find unique trinkets or ideas for your home! Nothing a little paint wont fix!!! Here is some great pix from today's local flea markets!!
A old ladder can make an amazing accent to any ceiling!!
Another ladder can hold other household items, I prefer bath towels!!
Using an old hutch is a great way to hold all your collectibles!!
Love this simple idea of random strips of paper, with simple sayings on them to express feeling or ideas!!
Simple candle holders are always a great find at any Flea Market (that I will give a facelift later)
Finding a small little box, can be a great holder for those little trinkets!!
Simple gold mirror can add character to any wall in your home!
Signs: They are a great way to express your feelings through your walls!
